Chile's Revelation in Global Sustainable Dairy

The International Dairy Federation (IDF) has selected Chile as a model for sustainable dairy practices, accrediting its advanced modernization and innovation in the dairy sector. Chile is recognized as a strategic reference point in Latin America. "La IDF reconoce avances chilenos": Gilles Froment, President of the IDF, emphasized that choosing Chile for the World Milk Summit acknowledges its strides in modernization, sustainability, and innovation.
A global summit titled "Nutriendo un Mundo Sustentable" will take place in Santiago from October 20-23, drawing over a thousand experts from 60 countries. The summit will address food security, climate resilience, and technology use in the dairy chain.
Chile's notable advancements in clean production, renewable energy, and public-private partnerships are key to its global standing. Its efforts align with international carbon neutrality goals promoted by the IDF through tools like the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and the Paris Dairy Declaration. Although this transformation journey continues, Chile serves as an exemplar of sustainability efforts in the dairy industry.
Froment highlights resilience, efficiency, and equity as crucial elements in achieving a responsible and fair dairy industry. He stresses the integration of small producers into technological schemes and resource management as essential steps for Chile's sustainable leadership.
