Canto de Minas Expands Operations with Acquisition of Matilat Plant

Canto de Minas has embarked on a new phase of industrial expansion through the acquisition of the former BRQ Matilat plant located in Catanduva. This acquisition integrates an established production unit into Canto de Minas' existing operations, enhancing its logistical and operational capabilities. The acquisition marks the conclusion of a judicial restructuring process involving the Matilat plant.

Originally, the Matilat plant was acquired by BRQ Foods in 2021. However, in 2025, the plant's assets were put up for a judicial auction due to financial restructuring needs, with Canto de Minas acting as the Stalking Horse, the first qualified bidder in the process. With headquarters in Ituiutaba, Minas Gerais, Canto de Minas, which has over 30 years of market presence, has now incorporated Matilat's assets to bolster its production capacity.

The transition of control has been smooth, with no interruptions to the plant's industrial activities. The new management, effective from June 1, has pledged to maintain existing employment levels, as per the local workers' union. The only exceptions involve two positions that will be eliminated due to changes in the administrative structure. The union and BRQ Matilat are working together to help those affected employees find new jobs.

Moreover, the new administration has committed to upholding the current collective labor agreement, with the base date remaining on September 1. This continuity ensures stability for the plant's workforce during the transition period.

The successful acquisition and integration of the Catanduva plant signal the end of the judicial restructuring cycle and the beginning of a new expansion strategy for Canto de Minas. This move is expected to enhance the company's operational footprint and strengthen its position in the market.
