The Progressive Dairy Farmers Association (PDFA) organized its 18th International Dairy and Agriculture Expo from February 8 to 10 in Jagraon, Ludhiana.

This event has established itself as a pivotal platform for innovation and collaboration in the dairy and agriculture sectors, attracting participants from India and around the globe.

Hosting over 3,50,000 farmers, the Expo featured global pioneers in dairy machinery, equipment, and genetics, showcasing the latest technology.

This gathering underscored ongoing challenges in India's dairy industry, primarily focusing on improving the feed conversion ratio to boost productivity. Solutions in advanced breeding, nutrition, and management have been highlighted as essential strategies.

The exposition marked a major milestone, with more than 550 booths and a grand animal competition featuring over 1,200 high-quality milking animals.

These were judged by international experts, including Albert Reurink from The Netherlands, who praised the PDFA farmers' progress. India's dairy accomplishments now serve as a model globally, reflecting a shift from a learning phase to leadership.

Farmers from Belgium acknowledged the superior standards exhibited at the Expo, emphasizing the potential for India's reverse knowledge flow in the sector.

Renowned for their productivity, PDFA member farmers report average milk yields of 9,000 to 12,000 kg per lactation. The Expo also enjoyed substantial support from the Indian government, receiving accolades for facilitating modern, sustainable dairy practices.

Dr. Bhushan Tyagi, joint commissioner at the Department of Animal Husbandry, lauded the PDFA for its contributions to the sector. Dr R S Sodhi, President of the Indian Dairy Association, and Uday Tiwari, PDFA National Coordinator, reiterated the Expo's impact on cementing India’s role as a burgeoning world leader in dairy farming.
