Bolivia Prepares New Legislation to Set "Fair" Milk Price

The Bolivian government has initiated efforts to develop a new legal framework that will establish a fair pricing mechanism for milk, benefiting both producers and consumers. This announcement was made by Luis Siles, Deputy Minister of Industrialization Policy. The planned legislation aims to replace the current price band, which is set to expire on April 24.
"What we are doing is updating this law so that the milk price is fair for both the producers and the final consumers," said Siles during a press conference. The declaration follows a series of meetings between government officials and dairy leaders in La Paz, Cochabamba, and Santa Cruz, addressing various sector challenges.
As part of an agreement, the government has pledged to regulate the delivery of subsidized corn at 55% and soybean by-products to the producers to lower production costs. "Everything is being adjusted according to the cost structure to ensure a fair price for dairy producers and consumers," Siles emphasized.
