In Bolivia, the per capita consumption of milk increased by 40% from 49 liters in 2012 to 68 liters in 2024, as disclosed by Zenón Mamani, the Minister of Productive Development and Plural Economy.

"The per person milk consumption back in 2012 was 49 liters a day; by 2024, it had risen to 68 liters per person," Mamani announced during a press conference.

Additionally, Mamani introduced a legislative proposal aimed at extending the duration of the Dairy Production Support Fund - PROLECHE until 2040. This initiative intends to bolster the dairy sector by potentially raising daily consumption to 100 liters over the next 15 years through increased availability nationwide. The sector's growth is reflected in the substantial rise in milk collection, which surged from 241 million liters in 2012 to 324 million liters in 2024.

Moreover, milk quality has seen significant enhancement from 75% in 2012 to 89% in 2024, aspiring to reach 100% by 2040, according to Mamani. The PROLECHE fund has benefited over 15,000 producers, augmenting both production and the supply of this staple commodity in the family basket.
