Blank Slate Creamery Recalls Vegan Dessert Due to Undeclared Egg
On August 4, 2026, Blank Slate Creamery announced a recall of its Vegan Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert Coconut Fudge Sandwiches. This action was taken due to the discovery of undeclared egg in the product, which poses a significant risk for consumers with egg allergies.
The affected sandwiches are packaged in 4.5-ounce clear plastic wrapping and were distributed at three store locations in Ann Arbor and Brighton, Michigan. These packages are marked with 'best by' dates of November 23, 2026, and January 9, 2027.
The recall was prompted following notification about the recall of Rooted in Rare brand Aquafaba powder, which is used in the production of these sandwiches. The specific Aquafaba powder involved came in 4 oz and 12 oz flexible foil pouches, with UPC codes #199284530959 and #199284306226, and 'best by' dates of December 14, 2026, and December 12, 2027, respectively.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of the affected products. Consumers who purchased the recalled dessert sandwiches are advised to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Further inquiries can be directed to the company at 1-734-580-2437.
