Bipartisan Congressional Dairy Caucus Relaunched to Support U.S. Farmers

On a mission to support the dairy industry, Congressman David Valadao, along with Reps. Joe Courtney, Mike Simpson, and Suzan DelBene, have announced the relaunch of the Congressional Dairy Caucus. This bipartisan initiative aims to tackle the challenges faced by dairy producers in the United States, such as high input costs, labor shortages, and changing consumer preferences.

Valadao, the only dairyman in Congress, emphasized the importance of this sector to the Central Valley's economy, noting the various challenges producers encounter, including market volatility and competitive pressures from international trade partners. He stressed the need for strong advocacy to help the industry thrive.

Rep. Courtney highlighted the significance of dairy farms to eastern Connecticut's local economy and their role in providing nutritious products. He acknowledged the pressures from rising input costs and market volatility, advocating for the industry's needs to be heard in Congress.

Idaho's Rep. Simpson, representing one of the most productive dairy districts, expressed his commitment to ensuring that dairy farmers' priorities are considered, recognizing their essential role in maintaining national health and nutrition.

Rep. DelBene pointed out the critical contribution of dairy farmers to Washington's economy and the Pacific Northwest. She expressed her dedication to representing their voices in Congress, focusing on adapting to industry changes and holding trade partners accountable.

The Congressional Dairy Caucus, originally established in 2006, has been recognized for its bipartisan efforts in supporting American dairy farmers and rural communities. Gregg Doud, President and CEO of the National Milk Producers Federation, expressed gratitude for the caucus's revival, emphasizing its role in providing an advocacy network for U.S. dairy farmers.
