Biogas Production: Argentina's Foray into Carbon Credits
An agricultural company from northern Córdoba, known as the Compañía Anglo Córdoba de Tierras SA, is breaking new ground by becoming the first in Argentina and South America to receive the Climate Action Reserve certification, allowing it to enter the carbon credit market. Through its biogas plant, Bioanglo, which transforms livestock effluents into biogas, the company achieved this certification with collaboration from Climate Action Reserve, MEXICO2, and the Córdoba government.

This innovative project positions Bioanglo to sell its carbon credits internationally, opening up economic opportunities for the agribusiness and livestock sectors. The biogas produced serves as a renewable energy source, with byproducts used as organic fertilizer. Carbon markets are vital for reducing greenhouse gas emissions globally, and Bioanglo's certification allows it to generate and sell credits, contributing to climate change mitigation.

Bioanglo integrates cutting-edge biodigestion technology that processes cattle and pig effluents into biogas via anaerobic fermentation. The resulting biogas is used as renewable energy and the residual matter as organic fertilizer. The certification by Climate Action Reserve signals Bioanglo's commitment to strict greenhouse gas reduction standards, adding credibility to its carbon credit sales.
