Berglandmilch Enhances Production at Austrian Facility

Austrian dairy cooperative Berglandmilch is set to enhance its production capabilities at the Aschbach facility located in Lower Austria. The facility will see a significant increase in its capacity to produce quark, locally known as Topfen, reaching around 15,000 tonnes annually. Additionally, the production of heat-treated cream cheese will be elevated to 7,000 tonnes per year.

To support these increases, Berglandmilch is installing new filling equipment which will enable a broader range of packaging formats. This upgrade aims to provide the company greater flexibility in product development and launches. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the new equipment will enhance hygiene standards, quality controls, and overall production efficiency at the site.

This expansion project is backed by financial support from several sources, including the state of Lower Austria, the Austrian federal government, and the European Union. Such support underscores the strategic importance of the facility within the region and its potential economic impact.

Berglandmilch has highlighted that the expansion will allow the Aschbach facility to better meet changing market requirements and support innovation within its dairy product range. The investment is also expected to bolster the cooperative's competitive position and contribute to the local economy.

The Aschbach site is one of eight production facilities operated by Berglandmilch across five Austrian federal states. The cooperative, which is owned by farmers, sources milk from over 7,800 dairy farmers and manages brands such as Schärdinger, Tirol Milch, Lattella, and Stainzer.
