Authorities in Primorye Introduce Quarantine Due to Pasteurellosis Outbreak

Quarantine has been established at the farm of Ikrom Karshiyev on Nadzhedy Street, 1, in the village of Zaprotochny. The decision applies to the private farm area where pasteurellosis was found in animals of various species. The order was signed by the Governor of Primorsky Krai, Oleg Kozhemyako.

The document outlines restrictive measures and a special plan for eliminating the outbreak. The head of the Oktyabrsky municipal district is tasked with informing residents about quarantine rules and organizing the necessary procedures. The restrictions can be lifted after the completion of all measures in compliance with veterinary regulations.

Infected animals are to be isolated from others, with separate personnel assigned to them. Veterinary specialists must examine all livestock and measure temperatures. For sick animals, except birds, hyperimmune antipasteurellosis serum and veterinary antimicrobial agents are to be used. Sick birds and those suspected of infection must be culled using a bloodless method.

Animals without clinical signs of the disease will be vaccinated. Disinfectant mats must be installed in the facilities, and measures against rodents and insects must be taken. The territory, buildings, and any places where sick animals were kept must be treated. Disinfection will be carried out in three stages: after isolation, after mechanical cleaning, and before ending the quarantine.

Milk and dairy products are allowed to be kept only if heated to at least 90 degrees for five minutes; otherwise, they must be destroyed. The remains of animals and infected products will be disposed of according to veterinary regulations. Separate disinfection is required for leather and fur materials, wool, hair, bristles, feathers, down, and eggs.

It is forbidden to remove any feed that may have come into contact with sick animals, as well as inventory and other materials, from the farm. The duration of the quarantine depends on the type of animals. For cattle, it lasts 90 calendar days from the first day without clinical symptoms in treated animals or after the death or slaughter of the last sick animal and completion of the plan. For other animals, except birds, the period is set at 14 days. In poultry farms, restrictions are lifted after the culling of sick and suspected birds, vaccination of the healthy livestock, and the implementation of other measures.
