The UN's FAO projects a 1% rise in global milk production by 2025, spurred by significant growth in Asia.
Asia Drives Global Milk Production Growth
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has released a report projecting a 1% increase in global milk production in 2025, reaching 992.7 million tonnes. This growth is primarily driven by Asia, with India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan leading the surge. According to the FAO, these countries are expanding their milk production capacities due to larger herd sizes and improved productivity per animal.

This expansion in Asia is crucial as it offsets a decline in China's milk production, which faces challenges such as lower farmgate prices and high production costs. The International Dairy Federation (IDF) highlights Asia's significant role, noting that China and India alone consume 50% of the world's milk, underscoring the region's importance in global dairy economics.

As Asia continues to drive production and consumption, it becomes increasingly pivotal in meeting global dairy demands and shaping international dairy markets.
