Arla Joins GDT Pulse, Enhancing Online Dairy Trade Platform

Arla Foods is poised to join GDT Pulse, the innovative pilot platform for online dairy auctions launched by GDT and Fonterra in 2022. Justin Matijasevich, interim CEO of GDT, expressed enthusiasm about Arla's involvement, stating that it will "expand opportunities for buyers and add further momentum to the GDT Pulse pilot."
The participation will see Arla's skimmed milk powder (SMP) becoming available during off-weeks from major GDT Events, providing more frequent purchasing opportunities. Arla's initial auction on the platform is set for May 12, 2025.
According to Thomas Carstensen, senior vice president of Arla Foods, joining GDT Pulse aligns with their evolving sales strategy, allowing them "a flexible new way to connect with customers and offer our products more frequently." This approach aims to provide participants with additional price signals and opportunities to engage in the marketplace.
The GDT Pulse service offers shorter, more frequent auction sessions, typically lasting between 10-20 minutes, bolstering price discovery for essential dairy commodities.
