Argentinian Biotech Firm Expands to Galicia for Milk RNA Production

The Argentinian biotechnology company, Kresko RNA, has established a presence in Galicia, Spain. Founded by scientists Carla Borini, Silvana Spirelli, and Uciel Chorostecki, the company focuses on developing cutting-edge functional ingredients. These ingredients are derived from RNA molecules found in cow milk, which have been shown to provide direct benefits to human health, including stress reduction and improved sleep quality.

Kresko RNA's innovative process stabilizes these RNA molecules, which degrade rapidly at room temperature, using a food-grade method. Fresh bovine milk is centrifuged and filtered to isolate and concentrate the RNA from the whey, transforming it into a stable powder. This product can be reintroduced into milk or used in dietary supplements and functional food formulations.

Dairy Rally Georgia

One of their advanced products, Dormo RNA, has demonstrated significant potential in laboratory and human trials. It reduces cortisol levels, enhances intestinal barrier quality, and optimizes sleep cycles. The move to Galicia allows Kresko RNA to leverage the facilities of the Aula de Productos Lácteos and to establish a European operational base, benefiting from the strong dairy sector in the region.

Looking ahead to 2026-2027, Kresko RNA plans to begin commercial production and is considering setting up small processing plants near raw material sources in Galicia. The company is also exploring the use of cheese whey, currently an industrial byproduct, as a source for extracting these valuable molecules, thus adding new value to dairy industry waste.
