Argentina Leads Global Dairy Growth in 2025

Argentina is emerging as the undisputed leader in dairy production growth among exporting powers for 2025, according to recent projections by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The country is expected to experience an impressive production increase of 4.5%, equivalent to a total volume of 11.4 billion liters. This significant boost, in line with estimates from the Observatorio de la Cadena Láctea (OCLA), marks a solid economic recovery for the sector. Meanwhile, the export landscape shows caution, with a projected 9% decrease in Argentina's milk powder exports due to reduced demand from China and market restrictions in Algeria.

Comparatively, the United States and New Zealand are also experiencing growth, yet at a more moderate pace of 1.1% and 1%, respectively. In contrast, the European Union faces slight contraction due to environmental regulations, and Australia is affected by severe droughts. This global context offers Argentina significant opportunities as dairy consumption is expected to grow by 10% in the mid-term, according to research by the International Dairy Federation, with cheese and butter as the most dynamic products. Analysts emphasize the need for the industry to focus on environmental sustainability, animal welfare, and nutritional value promotion to secure long-term leadership.
