Arcor and Danone Fully Acquire La Serenísima, Transforming Argentina's Dairy Sector
Grupo Arcor and Danone have completed a significant acquisition in Argentina's dairy industry by taking full control of La Serenísima through the purchase of remaining shares in Mastellone Hermanos SA. The transaction, finalized after extensive negotiations, marks a major event in the food industry for the year.
The deal was executed via Bagley Latinoamérica, the joint venture formed by Arcor and Danone in 2005. It involved exercising an option to buy out the controlling stake from the Mastellone family and Dallpoint investment fund, thus ending a decade-long process.
La Serenísima, known as Argentina's leading dairy brand, processes a wide range of dairy products, including milk, cheese, butter, and desserts. The new joint venture will consolidate 11 production plants and integrate operations with Danone's existing dairy business in Argentina.
According to a joint statement, the acquisition aims to create an integrated business that will enhance innovation, operational efficiency, and market reach. Antoine de Saint-Affrique, CEO of Danone, emphasized the goal of delivering high-quality dairy products to more consumers.
Alfredo Pagani, president of Grupo Arcor, highlighted that the joint venture would leverage commercial and operational synergies to accelerate growth. The completion of the acquisition is pending regulatory approval.
