APROVAL and CRDP: A Partnership for the Dairy Sector

Since its founding in 1999, APROVAL has tirelessly worked to represent and strengthen the regional dairy sector, currently comprising 150 producers generating about 60% of the region's milk production. Its focus has been on building a dairy industry that is economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable, aiming for long-term development.

One of the most innovative projects they have pioneered is the Technological Transfer Group (GTT) "Good Staff Management Practices in Dairy", supported by Corfo Los Ríos. Unlike traditional GTTs focused on technical aspects like pasture management or animal production, this group addresses a critical yet often overlooked topic: human capital management.

This GTT is aimed at helping producers better manage farm workers. "In the end, dairy farming is a business, and often those in charge lack the tools to lead teams," explain guild spokespeople. Currently, 11 farms participate, with ten from the Los Ríos Region and one from Los Lagos, engaging in monthly face-to-face activities that combine theory, practical experiences, and on-site consultancy. Topics range from creating job profiles to talent retention strategies.

The origins of this GTT trace back to a study funded through the Productive Development Regional Corporation's Goods Club line, titled "Human Capital Challenges in the Dairy Sector in the Los Ríos Region." This diagnosis identified significant gaps in people management, high labor turnover, and low female participation in the sector, leading to a Human Capital Strategy now in full swing.

Additionally, they have launched other strategic initiatives, such as the study "Improving Management and Irrigation Efficiency in Primary Milk Production," also supported by the corporation, generating key information for optimizing water resources amid climate change.

Thanks to this alliance with the CRDP, projects have been promoted that directly impact the competitiveness of the dairy sector, strengthening human capital, productive efficiency, and responsible use of natural resources.
