Animals Return to Sommet de l’Élevage After Previous Exhibition Was Held Without Them Due to Disease Risk
Livestock displays have returned to Sommet de l’Élevage in 2026. The previous exhibition was held without animals because of the risk of lumpy skin disease in cattle.
The organizers developed a specific animal health protocol with the relevant authorities to allow animals to attend. Exhibition president Jacques Chazalet said the rules must protect animal health while enabling farms to participate in the displays.
According to the organizers, one challenge is applying national animal health requirements, which may be interpreted differently across regions. The exhibition is coordinating admission procedures with government agencies, animal health groups known as GDS, and veterinary services.
