An agreement between Covap and India's Gujarat Milk Marketing Federation (Amul) was recently formalized at the Indian embassy in Spain, with the presence of Ambassador Dinesh K Patnaik. Covap, based in Pozoblanco, will produce Amul Gold, a premium Indian milk, using its own dairy resources with a modified higher-fat content of at least 6%.

Covap's Director of International, Juan Antonio Ballesteros, states that production processes required no industrial adaptations, although Amul representatives were present during initial packaging phases to certify quality. Initially, Amul Gold will be distributed in Spain and Portugal, followed by expansion into Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

This venture marks Amul's first entry into Europe, promoting Indian milk characterized by its creamy texture and richness, suitable for direct consumption or dessert preparation.
Carlos Metha, Amul's managing director, conveyed excitement about Covap's reputable operations, anticipating global appreciation of the authentic taste of India. Covap, boasting over 3.6 million dairy producers, is committed to long-term excellence and wishes to elevate the presence of Spanish dairy products internationally.
