Agrifoods International Cooperative was fined $100,000 after worker injury
A Saskatchewan dairy company has received a total penalty of $100,000 following a workplace incident in Saskatoon. Agrifoods International Cooperative Ltd. was fined after a worker suffered serious injuries while carrying out duties as a wash-bay attendant.
The incident occurred on November 20th 2023. The worker was caught between a semi tractor and a trailer used to transport milk. The source report did not identify the worker or provide details about the injuries.
Agrifoods entered a guilty plea on September 29th 2026. The charge concerned the company’s failure to ensure that powered mobile equipment was operated only by people who had been trained and were required or authorised to use it.
The court imposed a base fine of $71,428.57. A victim fine surcharge of $28,571.43 was added, bringing the total amount payable to $100,000. Two other charges filed in connection with the matter were withdrawn.
