Advanced Biotechnology Initiative for Cattle Genetic Enhancement in Aguascalientes

The state of Aguascalientes has announced an open call for applications aimed at enhancing the genetic stock of cattle using advanced biotechnology. The program, spearheaded by the State Government through the Secretariat of Rural and Agribusiness Development (Sedrae), aims to sustain quality cattle breeding in the region.
Isidoro Armendáriz, head of Sedrae, has detailed the support mechanisms within the program. Cattle breeders can access genetic material for conventional or artificial insemination, guaranteeing the excellence of their livestock and assisting in repopulating the state's cattle herds.
The program offers three support schemes: a 50% subsidy for up to 100 doses of sexed genetic material, capped at 25,000 pesos; a 50% subsidy for up to 100 doses of genetic material, with a maximum of 20,000 pesos; and a subsidy of up to 1,000 pesos per pregnant cow, with a limit of 30 cows.
Armendáriz emphasizes the increasing adoption of technology by cattle breeders to develop better breeds for both meat and milk, which have shown improved yields and are well-suited to the region. The application period remains open until May 30, with submissions to be made at the Sedrae offices.
