Aavin's non-refrigerated milk, essential during natural disasters like storms and heavy rains, and for long-distance travel, has been a key resource in maintaining a steady milk supply during emergencies, underscoring Aavin’s commitment to community service.
Previously, the prices for non-refrigerated milk packets were Rs 30 for 450ml and Rs 12 for 150ml. With the recent price reduction, these packets now cost Rs 28 for 450ml and Rs 10 for 150ml. This price cut has been made possible due to an excess in milk stock, enabling Aavin to offer more affordable options to its customers.
Established in 1958, Aavin began as part of the Dairy Development Department, which oversaw milk production and distribution throughout Tamil Nadu. Over time, Aavin absorbed various milk cooperatives and, in 1981, was rebranded as the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Ltd. Today, Aavin's operations are integral to daily life in Tamil Nadu, ensuring the procurement and direct sale of milk to consumers.
In addition to milk, Aavin’s product lineup includes butter, ice cream, yogurt, ghee, milkshakes, and khoa, making it a household name across the region. Meanwhile, Arokya has also announced a price reduction, cutting the price of cream milk by Rs 3 per liter to benefit tea shops and hotels. The price of curd has been reduced by Rs 6 per kilogram, with full cream milk now priced at Rs 65 per liter, and Aavin milk cardholders can purchase it at Rs 48 per liter.
These price adjustments reflect both cooperatives' efforts to support consumers and businesses amid changing market conditions, further solidifying their roles as essential providers in Tamil Nadu’s dairy sector.
