A New Management Project Will Track 12 Dairy Farms

A new management initiative will work with 12 dairy properties on issues linked to the daily operation of milk production. The programme will address cost control, planning, production organisation, the use of performance indicators and decision-making.

The project brings together specialists from several fields rather than placing the work within a single discipline. Its professional team includes people with backgrounds in agronomy, veterinary medicine, accounting, and systems analysis and development.

Each area is expected to contribute a separate perspective to the participating properties. The project’s content will be applied according to the circumstances of each participant, rather than through a uniform approach for all 12 properties.

The initiative was presented at a launch attended by Gerson Preileper, a representative of Cresol. Ivan Carlos Bertoldo, Unisep’s director of planning, explained the structure of the modules that are to be developed.

The model links three groups that are often treated separately: academic knowledge, farmers’ practical experience and a financial institution associated with the co-operative sector. Cresol’s participation places that institutional element alongside the technical and operational work planned for the properties.
