3,400 Kg of Adulterated Ghee Seized in Indore's Anti-Fraud Operation
Food safety officials in Indore's Palda area have successfully dismantled an illegal ghee manufacturing unit, resulting in the seizure of over 3,400 kilograms of adulterated ghee. The operation was carried out at Shree Ram Milk Food Dairy, following specific intelligence reports.
The seized ghee, which was falsely marketed as pure, was actually made with palm oil and other low-grade substances. Products were being sold under various labels like Mother Choice and Milk Cream, with an estimated market value of Rs 18 lakh. The raid uncovered 1,300 kg of loose ghee and 1,700 kg of packaged ghee.
Authorities revealed the operation was highly organized, using a dual-firm strategy to evade detection by purchasing ghee from different states and rebranding it. This approach allowed the circulation of the counterfeit product widely.
Samples from the seized ghee have been sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal for further analysis. Legal actions are expected based on laboratory findings. This bust is part of a larger anti-adulteration campaign, which earlier this month also seized over 3,000 kg of adulterated mawa and ghee from different locations.
Collector Shivam Verma has directed food safety officers to maintain strict vigilance with daily inspections across sweet manufacturing units and dairy facilities, emphasizing legal repercussions for those found guilty of food adulteration.
