As of May 24th, the 2024 farm bill has successfully passed out of the House Agriculture Committee. However, this milestone is merely the beginning of a lengthy process before the bill goes into effect.

Following the House Agriculture Committee's approval, the Senate Agriculture Committee will review their version of the bill. Subsequently, both versions will be forwarded to a conference committee, a select group of senators and representatives, tasked with reconciling the two versions into a single bill. The unified bill must then pass both the House and the Senate before reaching the president’s desk for final approval.
Given the complex legislative process, the farm bill faces several months of deliberation before becoming law.
Meanwhile, June marks National Dairy Month, a tradition that began in the 1930s to address a surplus of milk by promoting its consumption during the summer. Initially established as National Milk Month in 1937, the National Dairy Council expanded the focus in 1939 to include all dairy products.
During this month, consumers are encouraged to enjoy various dairy products, supporting dairy farmers by incorporating items such as milk, cheese, and ice cream into their diets.
