Wisconsin Dairy Processors Encouraged to Apply for State Grants

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has announced an invitation for dairy processors within the state to apply for the next round of Dairy Processor Grants. A sum of $200,000 has been allocated for this funding round, as outlined in the biennial budget signed by Governor Tony Evers.

Eligible participants are those operating licensed dairy processing plants in Wisconsin, specifically those engaged in pasteurizing, processing, or manufacturing milk or dairy products. The funding provided by these grants can be utilized to enhance various aspects of dairy business operations, such as food safety, employee training, facility expansion or modernization, and acquiring professional consulting services.

“Our state’s dairy processors are consistently innovating and growing their businesses, and these grants can help them do that,” stated DATCP Secretary Randy Romanski.

Grants up to $50,000 will be available for projects of up to two years in duration, with a 20 percent match required from the processors. Grant recipients will be selected through a competitive process.

From August 11th to 14th, The DairyNews is organizing a Dairy Rally that will start in Wisconsin and end in Kansas City.
