The National Institute of Milk in Uruguay reports a steady increase in dairy production, signaling a positive trend for the industry.

The National Institute of Milk of Uruguay has revealed data confirming sustained growth in national dairy production. The data provides a much-needed boost for the sector which has faced numerous challenges in recent years, highlighting the resilience of Uruguayan producers. In July, dairy supply to industries grew by 8.1% compared to the same month the previous year, and the total production in the first seven months of 2024 was 6% higher than the same period in 2023. This significant increase, amounting to 136.2 million liters of milk delivered in July, is largely attributed to favorable climatic conditions that have improved pasture growth. The positive impact of increased production extends across the entire value chain, benefiting producers, industries, and the national economy as Uruguay is a major dairy exporter. The stability in market prices, coupled with growth in volume, fosters a more confident environment for investment and sector development.
