Clarence’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for United Feeds, which operates production facilities in Belfast and Dungannon. The company is known for manufacturing high-quality blended and compound feeds for the ruminant sector, as well as supplying fertilizers, calf milk replacers, silage inoculants, and oxygen barriers. United Feeds employs approximately 70 people and has built a strong reputation for meeting the nutritional needs of animals and supporting farmers across Northern Ireland with personalized service.

Keith Agnew, Managing Director of Dale Farm’s Agri Division, welcomed Clarence’s new role, stating, “Clarence has a wealth of experience having worked in the industry since 1994 and is well known by producers across Northern Ireland. As the business continues to grow, Clarence will play a key role in developing the team and building on the strong reputation United Feeds has for high nutritional standards and excellent customer service.”

Clarence expressed his enthusiasm for the role, acknowledging the challenges and opportunities ahead. “It’s an exciting time for me to take up this new role within the business. Recent investments have enabled us to expand the business, and I look forward to continuing that growth. With unusual weather events, global market volatility, and sustainability concerns, these are challenging times for producers. Working directly with farmers, our team has solutions that are delivering both improved production efficiency and sustainability gains.”

Under Clarence’s leadership, United Feeds is set to focus on maintaining and enhancing its strong customer relationships while continuing to innovate in response to the evolving challenges faced by the agricultural sector. The company has been proactive in addressing sustainability issues, being the first in Northern Ireland to introduce protected urea fertilizer, which reduces greenhouse gas and ammonia emissions while maintaining production efficiency. Additionally, United Feeds has developed reduced protein diet solutions that enhance fertility and environmental outcomes without compromising yield.

Reflecting on his extensive experience in the industry, Clarence emphasized the importance of United Feeds’ cooperative ethos, which centers on personalized service and quality production standards. “As a Sales Representative, I spent a lot of time with beef, dairy, and sheep farmers across Northern Ireland, identifying the solutions that are best suited to their farm businesses and ensuring the nutritional needs of their livestock are met. That cooperative ethos of working directly with producers is key for us at United Feeds, and we work with all customers on a very personalized basis.”

Looking forward, Clarence is committed to continuing the company’s journey of growth and innovation, with a strong focus on sustainability. “We are working to help farmers on this path, making their farm businesses more efficient and more sustainable,” he said. As the industry faces increasing pressure to reduce its environmental impact, United Feeds is well-positioned to lead the way in delivering sustainable solutions that support the long-term success of Northern Ireland’s agricultural sector.
