In a positive turn of events, the Nepalese government and the Central Dairy Cooperatives Association have successfully concluded discussions, reaching a five-point agreement earlier today. The consensus, overseen by Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Dr. Beduram Bhusal and Association President Amar Bahadur Kunwar, addresses key concerns and aims to foster a harmonious relationship.

A pivotal aspect of the agreement is a commitment from industrialists to settle all outstanding dues owed to dairy farmers by April 3. Furthermore, industries have pledged to ensure the continuous and uninterrupted purchase of milk from cooperatives, providing stability to the dairy sector.

Looking ahead, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock will play a facilitating role in the export of milk and dairy products by incorporating favorable policies and programs in the upcoming fiscal year.

In addition to the economic aspects, the government has affirmed its dedication to maintaining the livestock farmer insurance program and addressing the specific demands put forth by the Central Dairy Cooperatives Association.

The discussions included key participants such as Dr. Revatiraman Paudel, Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, along with President Kunwar. Following the successful negotiations, President Kunwar announced the immediate suspension of all protest activities that the Central Dairy Cooperatives Association had initiated since February 20, marking a welcomed de-escalation of tensions in the dairy sector.
