Lakeland Dairies Invests £24.5 Million to Boost Production and Exports
Lakeland Dairies, a leading dairy processor based in Ballyrashane, has announced a significant investment of £24.5 million aimed at strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and boosting its presence in export markets. This strategic move is set to enhance the company's liquid milk packing and butter production facilities, while also incorporating sustainability-focused improvements.
The announcement was made by Economy Minister Dr. Caoimhe Archibald, who highlighted the investment's role in supporting the agri-food sector and promoting regional economic balance. Dr. Archibald stated, "This significant investment demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to its business in the Causeway Coast and Glens area."
Colin Kelly, CEO of Lakeland Dairies, emphasized the company's ambition to grow in both domestic and international markets. He noted that the investment will facilitate new product development and meet the increasing demand in export markets. The initiative is also expected to bring environmental benefits by enhancing the site's energy sustainability performance.
Invest NI has played a part in this development by offering £2.5 million to LacPatrick Dairies, a part of Lakeland Dairies, through its Agri-Food Investment Initiative (AFII). Kieran Donoghue, CEO of Invest NI, expressed satisfaction in supporting Lakeland Dairies, citing the project's role in driving innovation and productivity.
The investment is part of a broader strategy to support the continued development of the agri-food sector, strengthen export capabilities, and improve productivity. It aligns with the economic priorities set by the regional government, which include fostering growth and opportunities in the area.
