Cantabria has introduced new subsidies to support terrestrial-based dairy production for cattle, sheep, and goats in 2025. These subsidies, detailed in the Boletín Oficial de Cantabria, are designed to encourage local dairy farmers.
Cantabria Announces Subsidies for Dairy Production
The Boletín Oficial de Cantabria published on May 16th a resolution for "mínimis" subsidies aimed at encouraging land-linked dairy production of cattle, sheep, and goats for the year 2025. Eligible beneficiaries include individuals or entities with official registrations delivering raw milk to the industry or processing it on-site. They must comply with various registration and hygiene requirements, including monthly milk analyses and annual declarations to FEGA.

Cantabria's subsidies vary based on livestock density: €25 per livestock unit for densities below two units per hectare, €15 for densities between two and three units, and €10 for densities of three or more units. Additional €100 per unit is provided for the Pasiega cattle breed, with a maximum aid cap per farm set at €6,000 annually. Applications are open for one month following the publication of the call in the Boletín Oficial.
