Belarus Doubles Milk Production in 20 Years

Currently, the country is fully self-sufficient in key products: the level of self-sufficiency for potatoes is 111%, for vegetables and melons - 103%, for meat - 135%, for milk - 283%, and for eggs - 123%. Per capita, this translates to the production of 908 kg of milk, 438 kg of potatoes, and 139 kg of meat per year. For comparison, the average for the EAEU is 275 kg for milk and 78 kg for meat.
In addition, Belarus consistently ranks among the top 5 global exporters of dairy products and the top 15 exporters of meat and meat products. In 2024, the share of agriculture, forestry, and fishing in the country's GDP was 6.9%, and 14.6% of the total investment in fixed capital was directed to the agricultural sector.
Among the key tasks of the industry, Svetlana Kondratenko named strengthening the international competitiveness of national brands, developing new markets and expanding the product line, including through deep processing of raw materials. Special emphasis is placed on scientific support for the agro-industrial complex: the introduction of precision agriculture, digital solutions in animal husbandry, breeding high-yielding varieties and new breeds of animals, and the development of biotechnologies and safety technologies.
"State support for scientific research and the introduction of our own breakthrough technologies will become the foundation for the successful positioning of Belarusian products in the international arena," concluded Svetlana Kondratenko.
