World Without Cows Filmmakers Release Official Trailer and Announce Global Tour

The film was created by journalists Michelle Michael and Brandon Whitworth. Over five years, they worked at more than 40 locations across 22 countries on five continents, speaking with farmers, ranchers, scientists, and experts in agriculture and environmental science.

The filmmakers seek to answer what a world without cows would look like and whether the impact of livestock farming on the climate and food security can be assessed in simple terms. The film examines greenhouse gas emissions, growing global demand for protein, access to adequate nutrition, agricultural land use, and the dependence of rural communities on livestock farming.

The international tour begins with premiere events in Dublin on September 9, London on September 10, Los Angeles on September 16, and New York on September 18. Screenings will continue in cities across North America in October. Events are also planned in South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Most screenings are expected to be accompanied by panel discussions involving dairy and beef producers, scientists, environmentalists, students, and representatives of the food sector. The film has been made available in more than 25 languages, and local organizations will be able to request screenings in their own cities.

World Without Cows was produced in association with Studio 410. Mark Lyons, President and CEO of Alltech, served as executive producer. The project itself was initiated by Alltech, a company operating in the field of animal nutrition and health. The company later established Planet of Plenty, a separate organization focused on educational and media projects related to agriculture.

The filmmakers say they do not intend to offer a simple answer to the question of whether livestock farming is beneficial or harmful. Instead, they invite audiences to consider the environmental, economic, social, and food-security consequences of a potential world without cows.
