Woodlands Dairy Group Acquires Ladismith Cheese to Expand South African Presence

Woodlands Dairy Group has announced the acquisition of 100% of Ladismith Cheese Company and its subsidiaries, Ladismith Powder Company and Mooivallei Suiwel, from Sea Harvest Group Limited. The acquisition is a significant step for Woodlands Dairy Group, a prominent player in the dairy sector, which specializes in UHT milk, yogurt, cheese, custard, flavored milk, and a diverse range of other dairy products.

The CEO of Woodlands Dairy Group, Helen McDougall, emphasized the strategic importance of this acquisition, stating that integrating Ladismith’s regional presence with Woodlands’ extensive network will allow the company to offer a more specialized product portfolio. Chairman Lex Gutsche highlighted that this move will help Woodlands become the largest wholly South African-owned, 25% Black-empowered dairy in the country.

Ladismith Cheese Company, established in June 1999, is well-regarded for its high-quality cheese, butter, and milk powder. The incorporation of Ladismith will enable Woodlands to broaden its product range, expand its customer base, and drive operational efficiencies. The deal will also extend Woodlands' geographical production facilities across South Africa, bringing them closer to farmers and customers.

Completion of this transaction is subject to certain regulatory approvals and conditions. Despite the acquisition, Ladismith Cheese Company will continue to operate under its existing brand, supported by Woodlands Dairy Group’s leadership.
