What future for European dairy?

The projections of the EU Agriculture Commission to 2035 point to some general trends: progressively increasing average milk prices, growth in the production of cheese, butter, whey powder, skimmed milk powder (SMP) and cheese-based ingredients.
Exports from the EU should also grow, in light of Europe's key role in food safety.

This is all good news for the Italian dairy sector. There is room for growth, starting with Made in Italy cheeses.

Investments will be needed, new relationships within the supply chain with greater space for the farmer who produces the raw material, new strategies to communicate the values, including ethical values, of dairy production to the consumer. A new vision for the sector will be necessary, so as to support global, resilient, green growth.
