WFU Statement on Labor Dispute at W&W Dairy Planta
"Wisconsin Farmers Union stands in solidarity with the dairy workers in Monroe, who went on strike after the sale of W&W Dairy and the introduction of new immigration verification requirements," the statement reads. Emphasizing the critical role immigrants play in Wisconsin agriculture, the Union underlined the need for comprehensive immigration reform. The statement calls for legislation that would update farm labor policies to support both workers and farmers. Additionally, the Union expressed continued advocacy for policies that respect workers’ rights and promote the health of Wisconsin agriculture. The existing H2A Temporary Agricultural Workers Visa, they noted, is outdated and inadequate for current labor needs.
