Waka Dairies: A New Zealand Farm's Innovative Approach to Dairy Farming

On particularly challenging days, whether due to harsh winds below the Ruahine Range or the stifling heat of summer, the milking cows of Waka Dairies can be found comfortably taking refuge under a vast shelter. As managing director Michael Phillips explained to RNZ's Country Life, "It's basically a roof for over their head when times are hard, like we do when we go inside."

This innovative shelter, spanning over 5000 square meters, plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of the herd and mitigating environmental impacts such as nitrogen leachate.
