Vivici Secures €32.5 Million in Series A Funding to Propel Precision Fermentation Commercialization

Vivici, the innovative Dutch ingredients startup backed by nutrition, health, and beauty multinational dsm-firmenich and dairy multinational Fonterra, has announced the successful closure of a €32.5 million (approx. US $33.7 million) Series A funding round.

The round was spearheaded by APG on behalf of ABP, one of the world's largest pension funds, and Invest-NL, with additional backing from InnovationQuarter and continued support from existing shareholders dsm-firmenich and Fonterra. This injection of funds is aimed at expanding Vivici's reach in new international markets, launching a second dairy protein ingredient, and establishing robust manufacturing capabilities.

Vivici leverages precision fermentation, which merges traditional fermentation with advanced biotechnology, to produce dairy proteins without relying on animals. This method promises a more sustainable way to meet global protein demands without compromising cost, taste, or nutritional value.

Under its innovative Vivitein™ protein platform, Vivici aims to augment the dairy industry's protein production, addressing the growing global demand for quality protein. Vivitein™ BLG, an isolated whey protein, is the company's first launch, promising substantial environmental benefits such as 86% reduced water usage and a 68% smaller carbon footprint compared to traditional protein production methods. The company plans to unveil its next product, Vivitein™ LF lactoferrin, later this year.

Stephan van Sint Fiet, CEO of Vivici, stated, "With this investment, we will continue on our path to turning the promise of precision fermentation into a commercial reality, cementing Vivitein™ as a new standard in consumer protein products."

Founded in 2023, Vivici combines breakthrough innovation and unrivaled industry expertise to sustainably unlock new commercial avenues for food companies. The company's progress is underscored by a strong pipeline of future ingredient products, aiming to radically enhance the nutrition industry.
