Vicentin Offers $2.5 Million for ARSA's Dairy Assets

Vicentin, an Argentinian agro-export company, has made a $2.5 million offer to acquire the assets of Alimentos Refrigerados S.A. (ARSA). ARSA, known for producing yogurt and dessert lines under brands such as Yogs and Shimy, has been in bankruptcy since November 2025. The financial difficulties arose from a combination of decreased consumption, rising costs, inflation, and price control programs in Argentina.

The proposed acquisition marks one of Vicentin's initial moves in the corporate sector following its recent restructuring. ARSA's assets include two industrial plants located in Arenaza and Córdoba, along with related real estate, machinery, and commercial brands. Prior to its financial decline, the Arenaza plant had an annual production capacity of approximately 42,000 tons of dairy products.

This acquisition is significant for Vicentin, which is the main creditor of ARSA. The company plans to take an active role in revitalizing the dairy operations, aiming to reintroduce the well-recognized brands to the Argentinian market. The history between the two companies dates back to 2016 when Vicentin Family Group acquired the yogurt and dessert business from SanCor for around $100 million.

Currently, the Vicentin Family Group holds a minority 1% stake in ARSA, with the majority 99% owned by South American Food Company. Despite ARSA's limited presence in supermarkets, the recognition of its brands among consumers remains strong, motivating Vicentin's interest in the acquisition.
