The Industrial Zone in Kostanay Will Expand to 587 Hectares by 2026
The decision to expand the industrial zone was announced by the Akim of Kostanay region, Kumar Aksakalov, at a regional administration meeting. According to him, the share of the manufacturing industry in the region's industry is 73%. The region's economic growth exceeded 8% in 2024 and reached 9% in 2025. This year, the authorities anticipate a figure of at least 6%.
The second key sector of the regional economy mentioned at the meeting is agriculture. It grew by 11.4% this year. The region is implementing projects for the construction of 16 commodity dairy farms: eight are already operational, construction is underway on five, and the construction of three more is planned by the end of the year.
Five farms are being built in the Altynsarin district, three each in the Mendykaryn and Fedorov districts, and two in Kostanay. One farm each is planned for the Karabalyk, Auliekol, and Beimbet Mailin districts. The comprehensive livestock development plan provides preferential loans under the "Igilik", "Bereke", and "Zhailau" programs for purchasing imported breeding livestock and constructing farms, including projects for pasture livestock farming.
The region has allocated 35 billion tenge for these purposes. If collateral is insufficient, the "Damu" fund can provide a guarantee for up to 85% of the loan amount. Under the "Zhailau" program, the requirement for state expertise has been waived: private expertise is now acceptable instead.
The "Tobol" social-entrepreneurial corporation received eight applications from agricultural producers. Ten farms signed agreements to purchase 5,150 head of dairy and beef cattle. Representatives of the farms will travel to Australia to purchase 2,540 animals. The Zhangeldin district has not yet participated in any of the mentioned programs.
The meeting also discussed the construction of housing and social facilities. The region is building 80 apartment buildings, with 520,000 square meters of housing planned to be commissioned by the end of the year. Twenty-one social facilities are under construction, including a tennis center and a multifunctional stadium in Kostanay, a sports complex for citizens with disabilities, a sports palace in the "Astana" district, as well as a fitness and wellness center and an indoor hockey rink in Arkalyk. In three years, 1,700 social apartments were provided to residents; this year, another 1,336 are planned to be handed over, compared to 540 last year. Earlier, there were reports on the Magnum E-commerce project in Kostanay: an industrial-logistics hub with a class "A" warehouse spanning 7,700 square meters will require investments of over 5 billion tenge.
