Quarantine Imposed in Mongolia's Border Region with Russia and China Due to Foot-and-Mouth Disease Outbreak
According to the commission, the decision was made at an emergency meeting and approved by the region's governor's decree. Departure from the aimag is restricted indefinitely.
"As a result of the emergency meeting of our commission and the governor's decree, a quarantine regime has been imposed in the aimag. Departure is restricted indefinitely. Disinfection has been carried out in six districts, and preventive measures have been strengthened. To monitor the situation, 23 checkpoints are operating around the clock," reported the emergency commission.
Laboratory-confirmed cases of foot-and-mouth disease have been identified in four settlements of the Ulgiy somon and in the Altai somon bordering China. The number of infected animals has reached 90.
All public events in the region are banned indefinitely. The operation of a meat processing plant has also been suspended.
