In the North Kazakhstan region, three enterprises for the production of cheese and curd are planned to be launched by the end of 2027. The total investment in the projects will amount to about 6 billion tenge.

New Projects

  • A facility for the production of kefir, curd, and butter worth 3 billion tenge with a capacity of 18.7 thousand tons of products per year.

  • Cheese production costing 2.2 billion tenge, designed for 15 thousand tons of products annually.

  • A factory for the production of curd and kefir for 700 million tenge with a production volume of 5 thousand tons per year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, there are about 60 cheese production enterprises in Kazakhstan with a total capacity of over 50 thousand tons of products per year. To stimulate processing, the government subsidizes the costs of factories for the purchase of agricultural raw materials. In 2024, the total amount of subsidies was 15.2 billion tenge, including 2.5 billion tenge for the production of hard cheese varieties.

According to official statistics, in 2024, the production of cheese and curd in Kazakhstan increased by 7.5% and amounted to 48.3 thousand tons. The growth in dairy production overall ranged from 0.3% to 4.7% across various categories, including milk, cream, yogurt, kefir, and butter.
