In 2022, raw milk production exceeded 11.6 million tons, with more than 90% coming from dehkan farms—family farms that play a key role in the country's agriculture. This was reported by Dairynews.today, citing an Agroexport review.
Uzbekistan increased raw milk production to 11.6 million tons in 2022
Since 2003, raw milk production in the country has grown from 4 million tons to over 11 million tons. This growth has been achieved through programs for importing high-yield cattle breeds and distributing land to families.

In 2022, production growth was 3.1%. The average yield per cow increased to 2.4 tons. According to the government program, by 2026, the plan is to:

Increase raw milk production to 22 million tons (an 89% increase from 2022).
Raise yield per cow to 5 tons per year.
Increase the share of farm enterprises and agricultural enterprises in raw milk production to 35%.
Milk production is concentrated in the southern and central regions. The main areas are:

Samarkand — 1.5 million tons.
Khorezm — 1.3 million tons.
Kashkadarya — 1.2 million tons.
Fergana and Bukhara — 1.1 million tons each.

Dehkan Farms and Their Role Dehkan farms account for 93.4% of milk production. However, their share is gradually decreasing in favor of farm enterprises and agricultural organizations, which provided 5.4% and 1.2% of production in 2022, respectively.

Challenges and Issues

Despite steady growth, experts consider the 2022–2026 program targets ambitious. The limited resources of dehkan farms and the need to improve efficiency require significant investments and innovations.
