Uruguay's Dairy Industry Sees Growth in Milk Production

Uruguay's dairy sector has witnessed substantial growth, with March 2025 figures indicating a 2.9% rise in milk production and delivery to industries compared to the same month in 2024, according to the National Institute of Milk (Inale). The month recorded deliveries of 140.5 million liters, marking the best performance in three years. Furthermore, the first quarter of 2025 highlighted a 2.3% increase, totaling 437 million liters in deliveries, compared with the same period the previous year.
Despite these gains, the annual cumulative delivery experienced a 3.8% decline, summing up to 2.0485 billion liters over the past 12 months. When measured in solid content—fat and protein—the figures reveal a 3.3% growth over March 2024, reaching 11.2 million kilograms. The annual solids accumulation for 2025 stood at 34 million kilograms, reflecting a 3.6% increase from the previous year.
Historically, October 2020 registered the highest monthly delivery at 222 million liters, contrasting starkly with the lowest record of 68.7 million liters in May 2003.
