Três de Maio Officially Adopts Industrial Milk City Title
The ceremony took place at the municipal government building on Saturday (12/09), when officials unveiled a plaque recording the new designation. The event formed part of Expo Terneira 2026 and highlighted the role of dairy farming in Três de Maio.
The proposal was introduced by councillor Leandro Maehler and received unanimous approval from the other members of the municipal council. With the plaque’s unveiling, the title moved from a legislative proposal into the municipality’s formal identification.
Figures presented at the ceremony for 2025 recorded 5,420 dairy cows in Três de Maio. Local farms produced 83,000 litres of milk a day, equivalent to 30.3m litres over the year.
The official designation recognises the importance attributed to the municipality’s dairy production, milk processing and wider dairy supply chain. The plaque links the title to the production data presented during the event.
The ceremony was attended by councillors Antonio de Oliveira, Leandro Maehler and Alexandre Ott, as well as Izabel Dalemolle, president of Expo Terneira. Representatives of organisations and institutions involved in the municipality’s development also took part.
Mayor Marcos Corso led the formal proceedings. He described the recognition as part of efforts to value people working to strengthen the dairy sector.
