The supply chain suffers from price disparities

I’m in Oxford today where it’s The Oxford Farming Conference (OFC) with vital topics such as ‘Is the UK Supply Chain Broken?’ under discussion by Ged Futter, Director, the retail mind; Chris Brown, Senior Director, Farming at Asda; Robert Chapman, Farmlay Eggs, Farmer; and Tom Bradshaw, Deputy President, NFU (National Farmers' Union).

The report 'Is the UK Food Supply Chain Broken?' authored by Gerald Futter, he says finds ‘farming’s confidence and bank balances are at an all-time unsustainable low.’
The supply chain isn’t broken from a product perspective; British and Irish farmers deliver exceptional produce. However, the supply chain suffers from price disparities, leaving farmers as price takers. The situation is unfair and unsustainable. Prioritising pricing fairness throughout the supply chain is crucial.
Change is imperative, and we're advocating for mandatory price reporting and empowering farmers with price control, especially important during these volatile times. We are committed to transforming how the supply chain works for the benefit of everyone in the supply chain - farmers, processors, and buyers
The Concept Dairy™ ???? Price-Locking App, empowers dairy farmers to take charge of their milk price. Additionally, through our 3Fs feature, farmers can also lock in their agri-inputs, including Feed, Fuel, and Fertiliser, providing full price transparency across the supply chain, enabling farmers to have a clear view of their output and input prices. By having this comprehensive understanding, farmers can better manage their margins, plan for the future, and ensure a sustainable livelihood. Plus the Concept Dairy™ system empowers Processors to understand their stock position, forward book exposure and manage their risk; and secures margins for Dairy Buyers.
To find out more about the work we are doing to create a more sustainable future for our agricultural sector, please get in touch as we’d love to hear from you.
