The Evolution of Dairy Queen's Blizzard and Its Vegan Counterpart

The iconic Dairy Queen Blizzard, launched in 1985, remains a bestseller. However, it faces a new dairy-free contender: Plant Power Fast Food's Snow Days.

In 1986, Dairy Queen predicted selling 175 million Blizzards, twice the previous year's sales. The Blizzard, a thick ice cream shake with mix-ins, was then declared “the biggest thing” by Dairy Queen's president, Harris Cooper. Today, celebrating its 85th anniversary, Dairy Queen offers Blizzards for 85 cents, a significant cut from the usual $6.
Yet, no dairy-free versions are available. For those craving a vegan treat, Plant Power Fast Food offers 'Snow Days', a vegan Blizzard-inspired product, available in nostalgic flavors like Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
