Tetra Pak and Axis Unveil Real-Time Ice Cream Line Monitoring
Tetra Pak, in collaboration with Axis Communications, has introduced a pioneering digital solution named 'Ice Cream Video Care'. This development aims to provide real-time visibility across every stage of the ice cream production line, marking a significant advancement in process monitoring technology. The solution is a result of a six-year partnership between the two companies.
The monitoring system utilizes network cameras as smart sensors, offering deeper operational insights and improved control throughout the process line. It is built on Axis Communications’ advanced IP camera technology, including Q-line dome and modular F-series cameras, which are tailored to perform in low-temperature and harsh production environments.
Up to 16 cameras can be installed along each ice cream line via Axis video management software, AXIS Camera Station. This setup enables safe, remote inspection without disrupting ongoing operations, thus ensuring constant, high-resolution visibility into areas that operators traditionally cannot access safely.
The introduction of this solution addresses growing consumer expectations regarding food quality, consistency, and production transparency. By integrating 'Ice Cream Video Care' into their production lines, manufacturers can leverage digital tools to enhance control, efficiency, and product integrity.
Katrin Andersson, managing director of Tetra Pak North Europe, emphasized the benefits of such collaborations in the food industry, stating, 'Tetra Pak and Axis Communications are combining deep knowledge of food production with advanced monitoring technology, enabling manufacturers to gain greater insight into their operations.'
Linn Storäng, regional director for Northern & Eastern Europe at Axis Communications, highlighted the shift from traditional surveillance to using video as a powerful data source. Storäng noted that this collaboration demonstrates the viability of smart, network-based imaging in challenging environments, providing manufacturers with the necessary 'extra eyes' to optimize efficiency and maintain high food safety standards.
