Tesco and Morrisons Champion Innovative Trials to Slash Methane Emissions from UK Farms
Source: The DairyNews
Supermarket giants Tesco and Morrisons are spearheading initiatives to reduce methane emissions from UK farms by backing trials of new feed supplements.

Tesco has launched a four-month trial with Grosvenor Farms to test the methane-reducing feed supplement, Bovaer, which could potentially cut farm greenhouse gas emissions by up to 12% if implemented across all dairy operations.
Concurrently, Morrisons is collaborating with Australian environmental tech company Sea Forest to introduce a seaweed-based livestock feed, SeaFeed, aimed at producing lower carbon beef products. This initiative could see carbon-reduced beef options like mince and steaks in Morrisons' aisles by 2026.
Both supermarket chains have set ambitious targets to reduce agricultural emissions from their supplier farms, reflecting a broader commitment to lead the transition towards a low-carbon agriculture sector. These efforts are part of a strategic move to support sustainability in farming practices and align with global efforts to combat climate change.
