Sommet de l’Élevage Recognizes Innovations for Milking and Dairy Cattle Management
DeLaval received the special Animal Welfare Award for its VMS FlowResponsive Milking technology. According to the competition organizers’ description, the system adjusts the vacuum level to the milk flow rate to maintain more stable conditions beneath the teat when milk flow is high. The developer’s stated aims are to reduce discomfort for the cow and protect udder health. The published announcement does not provide results from the technology’s use in commercial herds.
Agro Résine received an award for a method of rapidly renovating milking parlour floors and feed alleys. According to the competition description, fast-drying resins allow the work to be completed within a day, reducing disruption to milking parlour operations.
Other winners include Fendt, with a system for assessing kernel processing during silage harvesting, and EURL Coppeaux Nicolas Mécano Soudure, with a device that applies a biorepellent to cattle as they pass through it. The full list of winners has been published by the Sommets d’Or organizers.
