SDB Bank Pioneers Value Chain Financing for Dairy Sector

SDB bank has embarked on a value chain financing (VCF) initiative aimed at empowering communities by providing sustainable financing for both raw material suppliers and buyers. This initiative aligns with the bank's core mission to bolster sectors with comprehensive financial solutions tailored to unique needs.
The bank's recent success was evident with the completion of a VCF arrangement specifically for the dairy sector. This undertaking, in collaboration with CEETEE (Coconut Triangle Milk Producer’s Co-operative Union Limited) and managed by SDB bank's Kuliyapitiya branch, has been pivotal for the industry.
Funds from this program have been strategically allocated to renovate and construct cattle sheds and purchase cattle. These investments are expected to drive substantial growth in the local dairy industry, transcending mere financial support.
An integral part of the initiative was an awareness session focused on enhancing productivity and financial literacy among dairy farmers. "The value chain financing at SDB bank underscores our commitment to driving sectoral growth through customised financial solutions," said SDB bank Executive Director/CEO Kapila Ariyaratne.
This education session covered vital topics including improving cow productivity, milk preservation techniques, and financial management, conducted by both external experts and SDB bank's team. SDB bank is committed to supporting the local dairy sector and plans ongoing collaboration with stakeholders to promote sustainable development.
